Trip Details

Home to some of the world’s most celebrated cultural touchstones, Central Europe was built for exploration. This nine-day adventure crosses four countries and makes stops in four of Europe's most fascinating cities—Berlin, Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. From the Brandenburg Gate to Prague’s Charles Bridge, from a 16th-century market in Vienna to a walking tour of the Berlin Wall with a local historian, step into the past—and enjoy every minute in the present.

Trip Highlights

    • Walk along the Berlin Wall with a local historian, and learn about its political, social, and cultural impact.
    • Stroll Prague’s Old Town alongside a local guide.
    • Explore the winding streets of medieval Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 2 — Berlin

Take an orientation tour and then walk the Berlin Wall with a historian, learning about the political, social, and cultural impacts of the wall from the time of its construction to its eventual demolition. Enjoy an optional river tour, or spend a free afternoon exploring the city’s museums and galleries.

Days 3 & 4 — Prague

Take the train to Prague and enjoy a guided tour of the Old Town that includes the Jewish Quarter, astronomical clock, Charles Bridge, and Wenceslas Square. The next day, enjoy free time or choose from a variety of optional excursions. Visit Prague Castle, hike or ride a cable car up Petřín Hill, or enjoy local brews at a beer garden in Letná Park.

Day 5 — Český Krumlov

Travel to charming Český Krumlov to explore its World Heritage-designated historical center. While here, opt to take a guided ghost tour; or visit the centuries-old medieval castle to discover its hidden passageways, Baroque theater, and manicured gardens.

Days 6 & 7 — Vienna

Drive to Vienna and go on an orientation walk. Taste the world-famous Sacher torte at the Hotel Sacher. The next day, enjoy some free time to explore the city on your own, or choose from an array of optional excursions. Opt to have a soak at a traditional thermal bathhouse, testing the waters of its 18 separate pools and taking in its neo-Baroque architecture. Or visit the stunning Buda Castle, once home to the Hungarian kings of Budapest, and now housing the National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum.
