Experience southern Africa's diverse wonders on this 12-day adventure. Journey from the glittering beauty of Cape Town to the vast wilderness of Kruger National Park—home of the “big five” and countless photo ops. Then it’s onward to spectacular Victoria Falls, where the thundering roar only heightens the rush of experiencing Africa so up close.

Trip Highlights

    • Encounter spectacular Victoria Falls and follow a guide on trails around this natural wonder.
    • Take a behind-the-scenes tour of Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens with a local expert.
    • Wander through a local market and enjoy dinner at a family home in Zimbabwe.

Itinerary - 12 Days

Day 1 — Cape Town

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included.

Days 2 & 3 — Cape Town

Visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens alongside an expert guide. National Geographic Traveler magazine named these gardens among the top ten in the world. Continue on to explore vibrant Cape Town and Cape Point, stopping to see the penguins at Boulders Beach. Enjoy free time the next day to hike Table Mountain or embark on a wine tour around Stellenbosch. (2B)

Day 4 — Johannesburg

Fly to Johannesburg. Meet your CEO and enjoy a traditional South African braai (barbecue) welcome dinner. (1B, 1D)

Days 5 & 6 — Panorama Route/Kruger National Park

Take a scenic drive along the famed Panorama Route with stops at Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and God’s Window. Continue to our tented camp, conveniently located just outside Kruger National Park. The next morning, opt to take a game walk before embarking on a game drive in an open safari vehicle to take in views of the abundant wildlife in the afternoon. This evening, enjoy stunning views and an incredible dinner on the deck. (2B, 1D)

Days 7 & 8 — Karongwe Private Game Reserve

Enjoy morning and evening open-vehicle game drives while searching for Africa’s “big five”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and Cape buffalo. Meet with a researcher from the Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Carnivore Conservation Programme, a project headed by National Geographic grantee Kelly Marnewick. A member of Kelly’s team will tell us about their ongoing field research and join us on one of our game drives. (2B, 1L, 2D)

Day 9 — Karongwe Private Game Reserve

After one last game drive, head back to the city. This evening, enjoy a home-cooked dinner at our guesthouse. (1B, 1D)

Days 10 & 11 — Victoria Falls

Fly to Zimbabwe and gain insight into everyday life during a walk through the local market and dinner at a family homestead. The next day, take a guided tour along the trails of the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. In the afternoon, enjoy free time for optional activities, including a river safari, canoeing, or even a flight over the falls. (2B, 1D)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.

During your trip, sometimes it's just more convenient and comfortable to have your own room. That's why we offer the "My Own Room" option - a single room all to yourself.

What's Included

Arrival transfer, internal flights, transport between destinations and to/from included activities, and activities as listed in the itinerary. Optional excursions in Cape Town and Victoria Falls are at an additional cost.
