Itinerary - 10 Days
Day 1 — Cape Town
Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included.
Days 2 & 3 — Cape Town
Visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens with an expert guide on a tour specially designed for National Geographic Journeys. National Geographic Traveler magazine named these gardens among the top ten in the world. Continue on to explore vibrant Cape Town and Cape Point, stopping to see the penguins at Boulders Beach. Enjoy free time the next day to hike Table Mountain or embark on a wine tour around Stellenbosch. (2B)
Day 4 — Johannesburg
Fly to Johannesburg. Meet your CEO and enjoy a traditional South African braai (barbecue) dinner. (1B, 1D)
Days 5 & 6 — Panorama Route/Kruger National Park
Take a scenic drive along the famed Panorama Route with stops at Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and God’s Window. Continue to our tented camp, located just outside Kruger National Park. The next morning, take a game drive in an open safari vehicle, spotting the abundant wildlife of the lowveld. Opt for another game drive or a bush walk this afternoon. In the evening, enjoy stunning views and an incredible dinner on the deck at the lodge. (2B, 1D)
Days 7 & 8 — Karongwe Private Game Reserve
Travel to the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, and enjoy morning and evening open-vehicle safaris to seek out Africa’s “big five”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and Cape buffalo. Meet with a researcher from the Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Cheetah Metapopulation Project, a project managed by National Geographic grantee Vincent van der Merwe that is part of National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative. A member of Vincent’s team will tell us about their ongoing field research and join us on one of our game drives. (2B, 1L, 2D)
Days 9 & 10 — Johannesburg
After one last game drive, head back to the city. This evening, enjoy a home-cooked dinner at our guesthouse. Depart at any time the following day. (1B, 1D)

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Arrival transfer, internal flights, transport between destinations and to/from included activities, and activities as listed in the itinerary. Optional excursions in Cape Town and optional game drives and bush walks in Kruger National Park are at an additional cost.
