Discover evocative India during an eight-day journey to bustling cities and iconic monuments. Witness the utter beauty of the Taj Mahal, which took about 20,000 workers and 1,000 elephants more than 20 years to complete. Stroll through little-known corners of Delhi with a local youth, and visit the “pink city” of Jaipur. Then head into the countryside to spend a night in a family-run guesthouse.

Trip Highlights

    • Discover the stunning Taj Mahal and the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri.
    • Explore the palaces of Jaipur, see the impressive stepwells of Abhāneri, and hear a talk by a local historian.
    • Meet with elders in a rural village and spend the night in a traditional home.
    • Take a walking tour of Delhi with a local young adult from the G Adventures–supported New Delhi Street Kids Project.

Itinerary - 8 Days

Day 1 — Delhi

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included through Women on Wheels, a G Adventures–supported project that trains and employs local women.

Day 2 — Delhi/Agra

Walk through the backstreets of Delhi with a young adult from the G Adventures–supported New Delhi Streetkids Project. Later, explore Old Delhi with our CEO before an afternoon drive to Agra. (1B)

Day 3 — Agra

Spend the day visiting the highlights of the walled city of Agra. Visit the beautiful tombs of Mirza Ghiyas Beg, often called the “Baby Taj.” Venture into Agra Fort, then encounter the world’s most incredible monument to love: the Taj Mahal. (1B)

Day 4 — Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur today. Stop to explore the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri and the village of Abhāneri, which has one of India’s deepest and largest step wells (tank gardens). (1B)

Day 5 — Jaipur

Spend the day discovering the “pink city” of Jaipur, including the hilltop Amber Fort and the City Palace. View the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), and enjoy a talk with a local historian about India’s social fabric and customs. (1B)

Day 6 — Sāwarda

Drive to the traditional rural village of Sāwarda. Meet the town elders to discuss life here. Stay the night in a guesthouse in the village. (1B, 1D)

Days 7 & 8 — Delhi

Drive back to Delhi. Depart at any time the following day. (2B)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.
