Experience India’s rich history and heritage on this in-depth journey. Explore the Mughal architecture of Agra, Delhi, and Jaipur, stunning capitals of the former princely states and home to sprawling mansions and palaces. Meet with elders in the rural village of Chāndelao, explore the lively markets of Bikaner, and watch the sun rise over the Taj Mahal.

    • Explore tribal villages and visit a crafts school that empowers local women.

Itinerary - 15 Days

Day 1 — Delhi

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included through Women on Wheels, a G Adventures–supported project.

Day 2 — Delhi/Mandāwa

Walk through Delhi on an insider tour with a young adult from the G Adventures–supported New Delhi Streetkids Project. Continue on to colonial New Delhi for an orientation tour before driving to Mandāwa village. (1B)

Days 3 & 4 — Bikaner

Enjoy a walking tour of Mandāwa. Then drive to Bikaner to explore some of its estates and spend the night in a heritage hotel. The next day, venture into the traditional markets in the old city alongside a local expert. Visit Junagarh Fort and the infamous “Rat Temple.” (2B)

Day 5 — Jodhpur

Arrive in the “blue city” of Jodhpur and visit the Mehrangarh Fort and the Clock Tower. (1B)

Days 6 & 7 — Chāndelao

Take a jeep excursion into the countryside, visiting tribal hamlets such as Bishnois. Continue on to Chāndelao to explore the village and local markets. Meet with the town elders to discuss daily life in rural India. Visit the Sunder Rang Project, which helps village women become more economically independent by training them in traditional crafts. (2B, 2D)

Days 8 & 9 — Udaipur

Drive to Udaipur, visiting the stunning Ranakpur Jain temples en route. Explore the City Palace museum, enjoy a Lake Pichola boat ride, and visit the Jagdish Temple. For lunch enjoy a cooking demonstration at the home of a local family. (2B, 1L)

Day 10 — Jojāwar

Stay at the family-run guesthouse in Jojāwar. Enjoy a rural train safari and village orientation walk. (1B, 1D)

Days 11 & 12 — Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The following day, explore City Palace and Amber Fort, and view the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). Visit the local bazaars to browse colorful textiles, pottery, and handicrafts. (2B)

Day 13 — Agra

Drive to Agra, visiting the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri en route. Later, encounter the historic Agra Fort. (1B)

Day 14 — Delhi

Rise early to visit the worldfamous Taj Mahal, enjoying stunning sunrise views. Continue onward to Delhi. (1B)

Day 15 — Delhi

Depart at any time. (1B)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.
