UNESCO has called the ancient stone city of Petra one of the most precious cultural properties in the world. Experience it for yourself on this seven-day adventure through Jordan’s past and present. Float in the Dead Sea, explore incredible archaeological ruins, take an exciting 4x4 drive into the desert, and walk through Petra itself after a lecture by a local archaeologist. Make your own history in a place that’s seen so much.

Trip Highlights

    • Venture to the ancient ruins of Jerash and view the incredible mosaics of Madaba.
    • Experience Petra, and join an archaeologist for a talk about ongoing excavations.
    • Head into Wadi Rum on a 4x4 excursion and go stargazing with a local Bedouin.

Itinerary - 7 Days

Day 1 — Amman

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.

Day 2 — Amman/Jerash

On a city tour of Amman, visit the Jordan Museum and the archaeological site of the Citadel. Head to Jerash, one of the largest and best-preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy. (1B)

Day 3 — Madaba/Mt. Nebo/Wadi Musa

Visit the ancient town of Madaba, famous for its mosaics and churches. Continue to Mount Nebo for the stunning views from its summit. This evening, enjoy a lecture by a local archaeologist on the importance of Petra and the ongoing excavations at this UNESCO World Heritage site. (1B)

Day 4 — Wadi Musa/Petra

Enjoy a guided tour of Petra with free time to explore on your own. Later, attend a cooking demonstration and traditional dinner in Wadi Musa. (1B, 1D)

Day 5 — Wadi Rum

Head to Wadi Rum in the heart of the desert. After lunch at our lodge, take an exciting 4x4 ride over the dunes. This evening, walk into the desert for a traditional Bedouin feast with music and entertainment and admire the night sky alongside a Bedouin guide who will explain how to use the locations of stars for desert navigation. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Days 6 & 7 — Dead Sea

Visit the archaeological site of Bethany, believed to be the site of Jesus’s baptism, before going on to the Dead Sea for a float or an optional mud or sea salt treatment. Depart at any time the next day. (2B, 1D)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.
