    • Learn about elephant conservation from members of the Kenya Wildlife Service.
    • Visit a Maasai village and help build a clean-burning stove for the G Adventures-sponsored Clean Cookstoves Project.
    • Seek out some of Africa’s most incredible wildlife—from elephant herds and tree-climbing lions to rare black and white rhinos.

Itinerary - 13 Days

Day 1 — Nairobi

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included.

Days 2 & 3 — Masai Mara National Reserve

Travel to our comfortable tented camp located in the heart of Kenya’s premier wildlife reserve. Enjoy daily game drives across the savanna, home to the legendary “big five” game animals—buffalos, elephants, leopards, lions, and rhinos. Opt to visit a Maasai village or embark on a balloon safari. In the evenings, settle back at the camp and marvel at the views overlooking the surrounding plains. (2B, 2L, 2D)

Day 4 — Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart early to a G Adventures for Good supported project, Ubuntu Café – an initiative that trains and creates local jobs for women. Tour the craft center and farm, then sit down to a delicious farm-to-table lunch. Continue to our safari lodge, inside the Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive, paying special attention to the rare rhinos who make this area their home. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Days 5, 6, & 7 — Amboseli National Park/Arusha

Embark on a sunrise game drive before continuing on to our safari tented camp near Amboseli National Park, known for its herds of free-ranging elephants. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives, taking in iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the wildlife that lives in its shadow. Gain a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding poaching and elephant conservation during a lecture by an accredited speaker from the Kenya Wildlife Service—an organization that has long partnered with National Geographic to preserve the country’s wildlife habitats. Then transfer to Arusha, the gateway to the Serengeti and the wildlife reserves of northern Tanzania. Spend a free afternoon exploring the town and its bustling markets. (3B, 3L, 2D)

Day 8 — Mto Wa Mbu Village/Lake Manyara National Park

Visit Mto wa Mbu village for a guided cultural walk and a traditional lunch with a local family. Continue to our safari lodge, located outside Lake Manyara National Park and featuring unobstructed views of the stunning Rift Valley escarpment. Embark on an afternoon game drive across the park’s grassy floodplains and seek out the spectacular resident wildlife, including hippos, baboons, elephants, and the famed tree-climbing lions. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Day 9 — Olduvai Gorge/Serengeti National Park

Travel through the Rift Valley and visit a Maasai village to learn about the G Adventures-supported Clean Cookstoves Project. Enjoy an exclusive presentation by some of the “Maasai mamas” who work on the project, take a guided tour of the village, and help build a clean-burning stove in a family boma. Afterward, visit the Olduvai Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage site that holds some of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites. Visit the onsite museum to see some of the area’s unearthed fossils and artifacts, and then travel to our safari camp located inside Serengeti National Park. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Day 10 — Serengeti National Park

Opt to take a sunrise balloon safari for incredible aerial views of the savanna and its resident wildlife. Embark on an incredible full-day game drive into the vast grasslands of the Serengeti. Afterward, drop by the Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre for a talk by one of its visiting researchers, and learn about studies currently being done in the park. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Days 11 & 12 — Ngorongoro Conservation Area/Arusha

Continue game viewing on the drive out of the Serengeti to our comfortable tented camp. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, and enjoy an incredible African sunset over scenic Lake Eyasi. Depart early the next morning for the Ngorongoro Crater, part of a World Heritage site. Descend to the crater floor for a game drive and a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Arusha for the final night. (2B, 2L, 1D)

Day 13 — Arusha

Depart at any time. (1B)
