From seeking out fascinating wildlife in the jungle canopy to walking amid iconic ancient ruins, this trip to Peru offers the ideal Inca-Amazon adventure. Take in the sites and sound of the rain forest from our lodge in the heart of the Amazon, and then travel to Cusco for our journey to Machu Picchu. Whether you hike the Inca Trail or catch the scenic train, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of mountains and cloud forests. Then cap off your trip on the shores of stunning Lake Titicaca.

Trip Highlights

    • Hike the Inca Trail or take the train to Machu Picchu, and visit the ruins at Pisac and Ollantaytambo with a guide.
    • Spend two days exploring the Amazon rain forest with a naturalist.
    • Enjoy lunch in the home of a local family on the shores of Lake Titicaca, and take a cruise on the lake.

Itinerary - 14 Days

Day 1 — Lima

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included.

Days 2 & 3 — Amazon Rain Forest

Fly to Puerto Maldonado and continue by motorized canoe to our Amazon lodge, located in the lush Tambopata rain forest. Go on jungle excursions guided by knowledgeable naturalists to spot wildlife. Enjoy some free time to relax or swim, and go on a caiman-spotting cruise after dark. (2B, 2L, 2D)

Day 4 — Cusco

Travel by boat out of the jungle and catch our flight over the Andes to Cusco. Enjoy some free time to explore the cobbled streets and festive plazas of this one-time Inca capital. This evening, peer at the stars through the telescopes of the Cusco planetarium. (1B)

Day 5 — Sacred Valley/Ollantaytambo

Enjoy a full day to explore the Sacred Valley of the Inca with a local guide. Discover the ruins at Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Visit the Women’s Weaving Co-op and enjoy a lunch at the Sacred Valley Community Restaurant—both G Adventures for Good projects. (1B, 1L)

Days 6 through 9 — Inca Trail to Machu Piccu/Cusco

All roads lead to Machu Picchu, either by foot or rail. Choose to undertake the four-day guided Inca Trail hike. Or enjoy two free days in Cusco and catch a scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes, our base for visiting the famed citadel. Explore Machu Picchu with an expert guide before returning to Cusco by train. (4B, 3L, 3D)

Day 10 — Cusco

Take advantage of a free day in Cusco to explore its museums and ruins. Or opt to try white-water rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, or horseback riding. (1B)

Days 11 & 12 — Puno/Lake Titicaca

Take in scenic views while traveling through the high Altiplano region to the town of Puno. The next day, enjoy a guided boat tour of Lake Titicaca, visiting the floating Islands of Uros and Taquile. Also visit the Luquina community and sit down for a traditional lunch in a family’s home. (2B, 1L)

Days 13 & 14 — Lima

Transfer to Juliaca and fly back to Lima to enjoy your last night in Peru. Depart the next day at any time. (2B)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.

What's Included
