Set out on an eight-day cultural and historical adventure to Machu Picchu—one of the most awe-inspiring places in the world. Take a scenic train ride to the famous site and enjoy free time to explore its hidden corners. Roam the Sacred Valley, exploring Inca sites and taking in incredible views of the Andes. Traveling with knowledgeable guides who know this region best, we’ll leave no stone unturned.

Trip Highlights

    • Venture to Inca sites like Ollantaytambo, Pisac, and Moray with a local guide.
    • Visit the village of Huchuy Qosqo for a traditional lunch at a community owned and operated restaurant supported by G Adventures.
    • Meet artisans in a village known for adobe- and ceramic-making, and try your hand at the crafts.
    • Embark on a spectacular train ride to Machu Picchu, and explore the Inca citadel with a guide.

Itinerary - 8 Days

Day 1 — Lima

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.

Days 2 & 3 — Sacred Valley

Board an early flight to Cusco, then continue to the Sacred Valley to spend two days exploring with a local guide. Visit the Ccaccaccollo community and the G Adventures–sponsored Women’s Weaving Co-op, and then explore the Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Moray ruins. Stop in at the G Adventures–supported Sacred Valley Community Restaurant in the indigenous village of Huchuy Qosqo. Also visit a small community that specializes in ceramics and meet local artists for a demonstration. Explore the pre-Inca salt pans of Las Salineras. Enjoy a traditional pachamanca-style meal. (2B, 1L, 1D)

Day 4 — Aguas Calientes

Catch an early transfer to Ollantaytambo station and board the scenic train to Aguas Calientes. Visit the market here if you wish. (1B)

Day 5 — Machu Picchu/ Cusco

Enjoy a guided tour of the Machu Picchu ruins. Then explore the site on your own or hike to the Inca Bridge. Later, return to Cusco by train. (1B)

Day 6 — Cusco

Explore historic Cusco, with options to visit museums or go whitewater rafting, horseback riding, or mountain biking. This evening, glimpse the night sky through the telescopes of the Cusco planetarium. (1B)

Days 7 & 8 — Lima

Fly back to Lima for our final evening. Depart at any time the next day. (2B)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.
