Discover the history and romance of Andalusia, enjoying plenty of free time to uncover the region’s secrets on your own. First explore Madrid's museums and walk El Greco's Toledo with a local historian. Then embrace the Moorish spirit of Andalusia—from its exquisite architecture to its mesmerizing music—in Córdoba, Granada, and Ronda.

Itinerary - 8 Days

Day 1 — Madrid

Arrive at any time.

Day 2 — Madrid/Toledo

Travel to nearby Toledo and join a local historian on a tour of its medieval center, brimming with historical churches, synagogues, mosques, and plazas. Return to Madrid and explore the city on your own. Or opt to visit the renowned Museo del Prado—one of the world’s greatest art museums—and the nearby botanical garden, Real Jardín Botanico. (1B)

Day 3 — Córdoba

Take the high-speed train to Córdoba and visit the Mezquita—a Catholic cathedral built within a former Moorish mosque. Afterwards, stroll the medieval Jewish quarter’s maze of winding lanes and traditional houses. (1B)

Days 4 & 5 — Granada

Travel to Granada and take an orientation walk. Enjoy a private flamenco lesson with a professional dancer. Take a guided tour of the magnificent Alhambra hilltop fortress, one of the world’s greatest examples of Moorish architecture. During free time, explore the city on your own. Opt to take a bike tour around the city, or visit the Granada Cathedral—one of the largest cathedrals in Spain. (2B)

Day 6 — Ronda

Catch a train to the city of Ronda, dramatically situated above El Tajo Gorge. Descend into the gorge for views of the Puente Nuevo, and then explore the enchanting city center on your own. You may also opt to go on a caving excursion in the surrounding mountains. (1B)

Day 7 — Seville

Transfer to Seville and take an orientation walk. Later, explore the city on your own, or choose to join an optional activity. Climb La Giralda tower, adjacent to the world’s largest Gothic cathedral; explore Alcázar castle and its lush gardens; or enjoy an evening flamenco performance. (1B)

Day 8 — Seville

Depart at any time. (1B)

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers.
