Chile's Atacama Desert

Itinerary - 5 Days

Day 1 — Santiago

This is Day 12 of the main itinerary.
After our farewell celebration in the wine country surrounding Santiago, return to our hotel in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Santiago for an evening at leisure.

Days 2, 3, & 4 — Atacama

Transfer to the Santiago airport for an early morning flight to Calama. Upon arrival in Calama transfer by coach to San Pedro de Atacama and check into Tierra Atacama, our home for the next three nights. Over the next few days you will choose from a daily selection of Altiplano excursions, designed for all interest and fitness levels.

Explore by foot, bike or four wheels as local guides introduce you to the jewels of the Atacama desert including Salar de Atacama (Salt Flat), with its three varieties of flamingos, the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), Puritama Hot Springs, and El Tatio Geysers. Or participate in guided visits to the cultural sites of San Pedro de Atacama to discover the history of the area. San Pedro de Atacama offers a picturesque village, churches, ancient dwellings, and gorgeous ancient art.
Tierra Atacama (B,L,D)

Days 5 & 6 — Atacama/Santiago/U.S.

Transfer to the Calama airport for your return flight home via Santiago, arriving in the U.S. the next day.

Easter Island

Day 1 — Santiago

This is Day 12 of the main itinerary.
After our farewell celebration in the wine country surrounding Santiago, return to our hotel in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Santiago for an evening at leisure.

Days 2, 3, & 4 — Easter Island

Transfer to the airport to catch a morning flight to Easter Island. Upon arrival check into our rooms at the Explora Rapa Nui lodge. Over the next three days you can select from a variety of excursions, giving you the opportunity to visit many spectacular sites of Easter Island. Explore Rano Raraku statue quarry, where the outer and inner slopes of the mountain are covered with hundreds of moai (statues) in different stages of completion, and Anakena Beach, the legendary landing place of Hotu Matua, the founder of Rapa Nui. Visit the restored site of Ahu Nau Nau, that overlooks the bay, to learn more about the culture of Easter Island, as well as many additional locations which reveal the secrets and beauty of Easter Island. During your stay on the island, enjoy wonderful meals, amenities, and surroundings while staying in the refurbished local houses which now make up the Explora Lodge.
Explora Rapa Nui (B,L,D)

Days 5 & 6 — Easter Island/Santiago/U.S.

Transfer to the Mataveri airport for your return flight home via Santiago, arriving in the U.S. the next day.
