A diverse team of experts accompanies this expedition — seasoned naturalists, undersea specialists, and researchers — who will share their knowledge and insights with you and bring each destination to life. Listed below are some of the experts and the departure date(s) they will be joining.
Sisse Brimberg
Sisse Brimberg and Cotton Coulson, based in Denmark, are two highly experienced photographers who have also been partners in marriage for 30 years and are Contributing Editors for National Geographic Traveler magazine. Collectively they have photographed over 50 stories for National Geographic magazine and National Geographic Traveler during the past 32 years. They have spent most of their careers working in Europe shooting stories from the Arctic and Scandinavia, to Italy and France. Both Sisse and Cotton have been awarded prizes by Pictures of the Year International, the National Press Photographers Association, White House Press Photographers Association, and Communication Arts.
Chris Rainier
Chris Rainier is considered one of the leading documentary photographers working today. A National Geographic Society Fellow, Chris is a director of the National Geographic All Roads Photography Program and a co-director of the NG Enduring Voices Project, documenting endangered languages and cultures. He serves as a contributing editor for National Geographic Traveler, as well as a photography correspondent for NPR. His life's mission is to document endangered cultures, and help empower them to use modern technology to save their ancient traditions. He has won numerous awards for his photography, including the prestigious Lowell Thomas Award, given by the Explorers Club for his work documenting culture.
Kent Kobersteen
Photographer Kent Kobersteen’s assignments have taken him throughout the United States and Canada and to more than 25 foreign countries. Kent served as director of photography and senior editor of National Geographic magazine from 1998 until 2005. He joined the National Geographic Society in 1983 as a picture editor. Ken has won numerous awards for his photography, and during his tenure, National Geographic magazine won the National Magazine Award for photography five times. Kent has taught photography workshops worldwide and has traveled extensively in Norway and the Canadian Arctic.
