Drift from one stunning landscape to another, stopping to roam the region’s famous vineyards, ride bikes through its vast forests, and indulge in its unforgettable flavors. Then head to Paris for two nights of discovery for all of your senses. Experience the France of your dreams from the inside out.

Itinerary - 10 Days

Day 1 — Dijon

Arrive at any time.

Day 2 — Dijon

Explore Dijon, medieval home to the dukes of Burgundy. Stroll its markets, the enchanting old town, and the Ducal Palace on an orientation walk. This afternoon, settle into our river barge. (1B, 1D)

Day 3 — Longecourt-en-Plaine

Enjoy a full day of biking through vineyards and villages, stopping to explore the quaint village of Gevrey Chambertin. Located on the region’s Route des Grands Crus, the town is famous for its first-rate Burgundy wines. Visit the famous Château de Marsannay for a tasting, and continue to Côte de Nuits before meeting the barge in Longecourt-en-Plaine. (1B, 1D)

Day 4 — Saint-Jean-de-Losne

Start the day with a walk around a typical Burgundy castle and its gardens. Continue the morning with a walk or bike ride along the canal, visiting small villages between Longecourt and Saint-Jean-de-Losne. This evening, enjoy free time to discover Saint-Jean-de-Losne, located where the Burgundy Canal meets the River Saône. Take a seat at a waterfront café, or walk to the outskirts of town to explore the surrounding woodlands. (1B, 1L)

Day 5 — Chalon-sur-Saône

This morning, a local wine maker joins us on board for a wine lesson and tasting as we sail along the River Saône. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the charming center of Chalon-sur-Saône, a port city of half-timbered houses and inviting squares. (1B, 1L)

Day 6 — Chagny

Cycle along the Côte de Beaune, stopping at villages and vineyards along the way. Explore the vineyards of Puligny Montrachet and Meursault, and enjoy tastings at the area wineries. Opt for lunch in town before returning to the barge. (1B, 1D)

Day 7 — Santenay/Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune

Enjoy a quiet morning on board, followed by a walk and wine tasting amid the vineyards of Santenay. Continue cruising to Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune and visit the Château de Couches, a spectacular medieval castle surrounded by beautiful countryside. (1B, 1L)

Day 8 — Beaune/Paris

Transfer to Beaune for a guided walking tour of the renowned Hospices de Beaune, a 15th-century charitable hospital that’s been funded for 155 years by the city’s annual wine auction. Explore the area on your own before catching the train to Paris. (1B)

Day 9 — Paris

Visit the historic Marché d’Aligre with a local chef and food expert. Rarely visited by tourists, this market is where locals come to shop for groceries. Meet vendors, enjoy tastings, and learn about the history of the market and the specialties offered here. This afternoon, explore Paris on your own. (1B)

Day 10 — Paris

Depart at any time, or extend your stay in this iconic city. (1B)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.

River barge (6 nights), comfortable, mid-range hotels (3 nights)

Meals Included
9 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners. Allow an additional $360-470 for meals not included. While on board the boat, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks will be included. All other alcoholic drinks would be at an additional individual expense. Tips on board not included.
