Itinerary - 2 Days
Day 1 — U.S./Edinburgh, Scotland
Arrive in Edinburgh and check in to the Caledonian Hilton, located near the Royal Mile in the heart of this historic city. The afternoon is free to rest or explore. Tonight experience the pageantry of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a spectacle of massed pipe and drum bands, Highland dancers, and fiddlers.
Day 2 — Edinburgh
Visit Edinburgh Castle, and view Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny — recently returned from London after 700 years. From the castle, stroll in the footsteps of Scottish royalty along the Royal Mile to St. Giles Cathedral, where reformer John Knox preached his fiery sermons. Board the royal yacht Britannia, which took the Queen and other members of the Royal Family all over the world. This afternoon, there’s free to explore beautiful, dramatic Edinburgh. Its stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture and winding medieval streets can take you to both the city’s rich history and vibrant present.
Day 3 — Edinburgh/Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh
Depart Edinburgh and drive to Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh, with lunch en route, and board Lord of the Glens. (B,L)
