Day 2—Mahe Island/Fregate Island

Transfer to the airport and board a helicopter for the scenic flight to Fregate Island Private, a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World. Settle into your villa, then meet your personal assistant, who will take you on an extended island tour and will be available to help as much or as little as you’d like throughout your stay. Discover the island’s dazzling array of indigenous flora and fauna and hear about local conservation programs on a guided nature walk. This evening, dine on Creole and international cuisine at the Fregate House restaurant, or take advantage of the lodge’s “dine everywhere” policy and eat a meal in the comfort of your villa.

Day 3—Fregate Island

Wake up to breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean, spotting exotic birds through the open windows of the Fregate House restaurant. Treat yourself to a massage at the award-winning Rock Spa, lofted on a hilltop plateau with floor-to-ceiling windows in each of the treatment rooms that look out onto the sapphire sea. Sip on tea or champagne in the outdoor water garden, a favorite hangout for the island’s meandering giant tortoises. This afternoon, discover the island’s best snorkeling spots with the guidance of the lodge’s marina team. This evening, you’ll be treated to an experience exclusively for National Geographic travelers. Join Fregate’s chef de cuisine in the island’s extensive organic gardens to select produce for a customized gourmet meal. Then head to the plantation house kitchen for a private cooking lesson, where you’ll assist in the preparation of your ingredients and learn tips from a culinary master.
