Go on an unforgettable seven-day adventure in Tanzania. Search for the “big five” in scenic Lake Manyara, the wildlife-teeming Ngorongoro Crater, and the plains of the Serengeti. Explore the area around the Olduvai Gorge, which has been occupied by humans—and their earliest ancestors—for almost two million years. Here where the cradle of humanity meets the masters of the animal kingdom, experience your own evolution.

Trip Highlights

    • Set out on safari in Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, and more.
    • Meet with a researcher from the Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre to discuss ongoing studies.
    • Spend time with Maasai women involved in the
      G Adventures–sponsored Clean Cookstoves Project.

Itinerary - 7 Days

Day 1 — Arusha

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included.

Day 2 — Mto wa Mbu Village/Lake Manyara National Park

Visit Mto wa Mbu village to take a guided cultural walk and have a traditional lunch with a local family. Continue to our safari lodge, located outside Lake Manyara National Park and featuring unobstructed views of the Rift Valley escarpment. Embark on an afternoon game drive with phenomenal wildlife viewing and search out the famed tree-climbing lions. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Day 3 — Olduvai Gorge/Serengeti National Park

Travel through the Rift Valley and visit a Maasai village to learn about the G Adventures–supported Clean Cookstoves Project. Enjoy an exclusive presentation by some of the “Maasai mamas” and take a guided tour of the village. Afterward, visit the historic site of Olduvai Gorge, and travel to our safari camp located inside Serengeti National Park. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Day 4 — Serengeti National Park

Opt to take a sunrise balloon safari. Embark on an incredible full-day game drive and drop by the Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre for a talk by one of its visiting researchers. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Day 5 — Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Continue game viewing on the drive out of the Serengeti to our comfortable tented camp. Later, relax and enjoy the African sunset as you overlook scenic Lake Eyasi. (1B, 1L, 1D)

Day 6 — Ngorongoro Crater/Arusha

Depart early into Ngorongoro Crater, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, for a game drive and picnic lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Arusha for the final night. (1B, 1L)

Day 7 — Arusha

Depart at any time. (1B)

Cost Details

All trip prices are per person based on double occupancy. If you're traveling on your own, we'll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include airfare. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars.
