Buzz Aldrin
Dr. Buzz Aldrin made history when he and Neil Armstrong landed the Eagle on the moon in 1969, marking a giant leap for humanity -- and for space exploration. He established a nonprofit ShareSpace Foundation to examine the potential of space tourism, as well as a think-tank for the research of rockets that may someday make space travel more accessible for all. He chairs the National Space Society and recently served on the Commission on the Future of the U.S. Aerospace Industry. Aldrin is a 2005 recipient of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans award as well as the author of several novels set in space. He will join us on the January 7, 2010 voyage to Antarctica and will share with us his memories of his momentous walk on the moon and his vision for the future of exploration.
