John Ninnemann is Professor of Biology and Dean of Arts and Sciences at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. A long time resident of the West, John has spent the last decade studying the Anasazi and Fremont cultures of the region, spending as much time as possible in the canyon country of the Colorado Plateau. John's particular interests are the photography of rock art and remote sites, the flora and fauna of the high desert, archaeoastronomy, and the ancient road systems of the Southwest. John's photography has been the subject of shows in Colorado, New Mexico, and Washington. He is an avid hiker, backpacker, and river runner who loves to share these passions with fellow travelers.
