As Vice President and Publisher of National Geographic Maps, Dan Ortiz oversees the product management and publishing strategy for the Society's award-winning maps, atlases, mapping software, and map-related mobile apps. Dan spent much of his youth residing in Madrid, Spain, an
experience that instilled a lifelong love of Spanish history, food, and culture. Having travelled extensively
throughout the Iberian Peninsula, he brings a wealth of knowledge of this beautiful, historic land. A 27-year National Geographic veteran, Dan has split his tenure between the Society's Washington, D.C. headquarters and his current location in the National Geographic Maps office in Evergreen, Colorado. He is actively involved with the industry’s foremost global organization, the
International Map Trade Association, having served on its Board of Directors and as its International President.
