About National Geographic Journeys

An Unforgettable Experience at Your Fingertips

Go deeper into fascinating cultures and habitats around the world with National Geographic Journeys. Offered in partnership with internationally acclaimed tour operator G Adventures, these trips combine hands-on exploration, meaningful interactions with people and places, free time and choices—with the structure and security of small-group travel.

Small Groups, Local Guides

Usually limited to 16 or fewer travelers, National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures are designed to forge human connections with people we meet all around the world. Each trip is led by a local Chief Experience Officer, or CEO, who knows the destination intimately and whose main purpose is to make your trip extraordinary. Your CEO will introduce you to celebrated sites and local people, and they know all the best foodie spots too—from world-renowned restaurants to local favorites.

Inspiring Experiences at a Great Value

You’ll enjoy access to people and projects supported by National Geographic or
G Adventures, whether you're helping out with reforestation efforts at a National Geographic–supported research center in Costa Rica or visiting a South African village school sponsored by G Adventures. Along the way, we’ve built in free time and plenty of choices so that you can explore as you wish. Before your trip, you’ll receive articles and tips from National Geographic to help you make the most of your travels. With knowledgeable local guides, unique itineraries, and plenty of fascinating people to meet in the field, these trips are a feast for your mind and your senses—at an incredible value.

Booking Information

You can book your National Geographic Journey, purchase extra activities, and make your air travel arrangements all in one phone call or a few clicks of a mouse. Our reservations team is available 24/7 to help you. Once you’ve reserved your space, all that’s left to do is daydream about your trip. (And pack, of course.)

100% Guaranteed Departures Once you book your trip, you’re going. Period. Barring extreme weather or security issues, every National Geographic Journeys departure is guaranteed to run.

No Extra Fee for Solo Travelers If you’re traveling on your own, we’ll pair you up with a roommate of the same gender so that you can pay the same rate as other travelers. For those who need their alone time, look for the “My Own Room” rate on each itinerary.

Accommodations Where you sleep is part of your experience too, even if you don’t spend a lot of time there. Accommodations are chosen for their comfort, convenience, value, and the special element they add to your trip—a phenomenal view, a piece of history, or access to a remote place. In the Amazon, settle into a bungalow with a private terrace, en suite bathroom, and running hot water (a luxury deep in the jungle). Check out the views (and the architecture) at a mountain hotel in Bhutan, or spend a night cruising New Zealand’s Doubtful Sound.

Add to Your Experience You can do whatever you wish during your free time on tour, but if you’re in need of suggestions, we’ve got them. Check out your National Geographic destination information for tips, or book an extra activity with us—a wildlife photography cruise on Botswana’s Chobe River, for instance, or a zip-line adventure in the jungles of Thailand. Look for the “Add to Your Experience” box on trip pages, and make sure to reserve with us in advance to secure your space.

Lifetime Deposit Our Lifetime Deposit policy protects you if you ever have to cancel or postpone your trip. Your deposit can be transferred to another departure date or another National Geographic Journey, or you can use it later or transfer it to a friend.
